Day one:
( Same as day one of two-day tour.)
7.30 am . pickup from hotel in Adelaide CBD, and travel 400 Kms North to historic townships of Quorn & Hawker, the Hub of the Flinders Ranges and the gateway to the Outback. Visit “Old Kanyaka Ruins” sad testimony to this harsh country, abandoned due to drought.
Travel through the Moralana scenic drive & the view the beautiful Arkaba Hills.
Take in the view of Wilpena Pound & the Chace Range from Pugilist Hill Lookout before booking into accommodation at Wilpena Pound Resort.
Day two:
Early breakfast with time available for you to take an optional scenic flight around this spectacular, ancient
geological formation called Wilpena Pound . Depart for Chambers Gorge, the most spectacular accessible gorge in the Flinders Ranges . 4WD trek into gorge for lunch in idyllic surroundings and view the gallery of aboriginal rock engravings reputed to be thousands of years old. Return to Wilpena via the old
copper mining town of Blinman and travel through the heart of the Flinders Ranges National Park .
Day three:
Return to Adelaide via the famous gorges of the Flinders Ranges , Bunyeroo Valley/Gorge &
spectacular Brachina Gorge, a geological journey through 640 million years. Lunch at Hawker
before continuing on through the quality wine producing Clare Valley .
Stop to sample some local produce, arrive in approx 6.00 – 6.30pm .

Day 1: 7.30 am. Pickup from your accommodation in Adelaide, travel in a modern, air-conditioned Four Wheel Drive Station Wagon to the Flinders Ranges 400Kms north, stopping near Port Pirie for comfort stop & morning tea.
Continuing on we enter the Flinders Ranges via the Pichi Richi Pass a famous location on the “Old Ghan Railway”.
Visit Warren Gorge where we may be lucky enough to see the rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. Follow the River Red Gum lined Willochra Creek to Proby’s Grave (an early settler drowned in a flash flood) before crossing the Willochra Plain where we see the remains of settlers dreams. Call into Old Kanyaka Ruins once home to 70 people abandoned due to the Great Drought of 1864-67. Lunch at Hawker.
After lunch we journey through the beautiful Moralana Scenic Drive and on to Pugilist Hill lookout for a view of the Chace Range & Wilpena Pound before booking into our accommodation at the Wilpena Pound Resort.
Day 2: 8.30 am. After breakfast enjoy an easy walk into the Pound and learn more about this spectacular geological formation called Wilpena Pound.
After the walk we continue our journey to Arkaroola as we travel through the heart of the Flinders Ranges National Park via Bunyeroo Valley & Gorge, spectacular Brachina Gorge, picturesque Parachilna Gorge & on to the historic copper mining town of Blinman for lunch.
With abundance of wildlife in the area there is a good chance you could see Kangaroos, Euros (Wallaroos) Emus, Parrots and the graceful Wedge Tailed Eagle.
Follow the “Dreaming Trail” as we carry on to Arkaroola via the eastern side of the Flinders Ranges across remote sheep station properties before we stop for a 4WD trek into Chambers Gorge, where you can view the gallery of ancient Aboriginal Rock Engravings.
Continue on into the Gammon Ranges National Park and the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary Resort. Founded by Reg & Griselda Sprigg now operated by their children Margaret & Douglas.
Day 3: Early breakfast before joining the exclusive, world famous, Arkaroola Ridge Top Tour, travel through the creeks, valleys & over the ridges of the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, climaxing with an amazing view from Sillers lookout.
After lunch, capture more memories of the flora, fauna & rugged beauty of this wondrous, ancient area when we visit Stubb’s Waterhole, Bollabollana Spring & smelter & Arkaroola waterhole where we may find the Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies venturing down from the mountain tops to take a drink at the waterhole.
At night you may wish to tour the Galaxy from one of Australia’s largest privately owned astronomical observatories (at own cost).
Day 4: Return to Adelaide via Copley and Leigh Creek; visit the historic township of Beltana the first outback posting of the rev John Flynn.
After lunch at Hawker we continue on to Adelaide traveling to the east of the ranges through marginal farming country devastated by the “Great Drought” of 1864-67.
Visit Orroroo, Jamestown and the famous wine producing Clare Valley. Sample some of the local produce, if time permits, before arriving to your Adelaide accommodation approximately 6.30 pm.
Scenic flights of Arkaroola and Wilpena Pound are available (at extra cost) by prior arrangement.

Day 2: 8.00 am . Depart for William Creek via Anna Creek Station, the largest cattle station in the world. Optional one-hour scenic flight over Lake Eyre on arrival. 4WD trek to Halligan Bay at Lake Eyre (5 Hour, 134 Kms return trip). Lunch at the shore of Lake Eyre . O/night at William
Day 3. Depart William Creek approx 8.00 am for Wilpena Pound via Marree . Stop in at Coward Springs; visit the Bubbler and Mound Springs (natural artesian springs), Curdimurka (the site of the bi-annual outback ball) before arriving at Lake Eyre South. Arrive for lunch. Visit Farina (original Ghan rail head) , Ochre pits & the Leigh Creek open cut coal field, traveling through the heart of the National Park to Wilpena Pound Resort. O/night at Wilpena Pound Resort or Rawnsley Park Station (subject to availability).
Day 4: (Optional ½ hr scenic flight available at Wilpena Pound Resort - at own cost).
Before departing for Adelaide ,
traveling through the famous gorges of the Flinders, Bunyeroo Valley &
Gorge, Brachina Gorge (a geological journey through 320 million years). Arrive in Adelaide
Bed and Breakfast (continental) with twin share accommodation.

Day 2: 8.00 am. Visit an opal shop before departing for William Creek via Anna Creek Station, the largest cattle property in the world. Lunch at the William Creek Hotel before our 4WD trek to Halligan Bay at Lake Eyre (5 Hour, 134 Kms return trip) O/night at William Creek Hotel or Caravan Park cabins.
Day 3: Depart William Creek approx 8.00 am for Arkaroola via the Oodnadatta Track & Marree. Artesian springs the Bubbler and Mound Springs, Curdimurka railway siding, Lake Eyre South, before lunch at Marree. Visit the ruins of the ghost town of Farina the original old Ghan railhead & Lyndhurst Ochre Pits. Leave the desert behind as we enter the Gammon Ranges arriving at Arkaroola approx 5.30 pm.
Day 4: Spend some time exploring Arkaroola before leaving for Wilpena Pound, traveling through the heart of the Flinders Ranges, before visiting the old copper mining town of Blinman. Visit Stokes Hill lookout before our arrival at Wilpena Pound.
Day 5: Take a walk into Wilpena Pound and learn more about this stunning ancient, geological formation. Return to Adelaide via Bunyeroo Valley & Gorge, Brachina Gorge, (a geological journey through 640 million years) & the Clare Valley, famous for Quality wine production, sample he local produce before arriving in Adelaide approx 6.30pm.

Unsealed roads in this area are impassible when wet and may be closed after heavy rain. If in the unlikely event we are unable to proceed beyond Coober Pedy, we will return via the main highway. Tour price will be adjusted accordingly. Costs extra to the Itinerary are the responsibility of clients.
